I am in the middle of trying to make a deal on a 1981 CJ7 . It has a AMC 304 with a 4 speed, the body is not great but not bad someone did some work on it and some bongo is popping a little but it is not horrible . The floor pans are decent with only one small spot of rust that is getting close to through. The frame is very solid and it has a body lift and appears to have aftermarket shackle lift. The motor and tranny are solid and run great. The motor is very clean as in no grease and grime all over it but can tell by the paint it has not been touched for along time. It also has good 33-12.50 and decent aftermarket wheels it has only a bikini top with it and no doors. Well here is my question, what do you think is a reasonable price for it? It is not perfect but from what I have looked at around here it is pretty good. I am new to cj and would just like a little advise. Thanks in advance.

prices vary greatly in different parts of the country so what it is worth here in south Georgia would be no help to you. However,if you post some pics it would help guys in your area to give you a good guess

Yes I am going to try and get some pics. I am just trying to get a general idea of value. I know there are lots of variables. I think about the best deal I can make on it is $3800 so I am just trying to see if that is even close. Thanks

That sounds like a good deal. You live in the rust belt so I would think it would go for more.

running and driving $3800 is in the ball park… in the end it comes down to can you live with a yellow motor and flames on the front of your jeep :chug:

Nope... Can't live with it. Already working on a new paint scheme....... Took it to my buddy the body man tonight.:D

Sounds like you already have it. I'll bet the diamond plate is hiding rust but if it drives good and everything works it's a good deal. IMO

Runs really good, I am no expert but the front end seems like it needs work sloppy in the steering, it does have power steering. That is on my list to check into. As far as the diamond plate goes could be, I will find out soon when it comes off. :)
