Looking to get an idea on what a completely stock 2A that's not running(hasn't been in 20 years) but is rust free and all there is valued at. A friend has one that has been in his family since new and he's decided to quit storing it. I'd like to give him an amount that would be fair to both of us but not sure what it would be worth. It's in need of total restoration. Is there a market for these in original condition?

Nope none at all! Tell ya what, I'll take it off yours and your buddy's hands for free! Just send it down to me and I'll take care of it for ya!

Responding to your last question first, If you are looking at this wih the idea of making some money with a restore-forget it. Yes there is a market for them in any condition for the right price, My guess would be $1500-$2500 for a rust free, straight body, complete 2A in need of restoration but without seeing it thats just a guess. A quality restored 2A would sell for around 8-10K as a ballpark but restored is a misused term by many and does not mean new tires and paint and running again, but would be completely rebuilt from the ground up with everything as it was from the factory.

Not planning on trying to turn it. Looking for a fair price to offer. I remember riding in my grandfathers flat fender and would love to have an original one to take around with my sons, maybe put the business sign on it for parades. This one seems like the perfect candidate. Based on your numbers I'm sure it would be cheaper to buy one finished but I'm liking the idea of resurecting one to it's former glory. Good to know it will at least be worth something when done.

If it's something you want then this may be your best oportunity, finding one in new condition would be nearly impossible anyway so if you got the perfect candidate go for it!
If you are mechanically inclined the cost is not through the roof but your hours will be depending on the level of restoration your after.

Honestly I have no idea. I'm sure theres some people here that can though. The CJ2A Page Forums

I watched a TV show where there were 2 military (WW2) jeeps going up for action. One was a Willys with 0 original miles in MINT condition, the other a Ford that was completely restored. They both sold in the $20k range, the Ford going a little bit higher. I plan on using that for future reference. But your mileage may vary. :D

Can't compare an MB and GPW with a 2a not even close to what a military Jeep will fetch over the 2a.

If there were a completely stock 2a, in good running condition, with all the paperwork from new, no one in this country would pay the money it is worth. However, an overseas buyer would cough up the dough and that's were most of the gems are going.
