CJ5 304 Junkyard TBI install
If you are going to run an external pump, I would suggest a high flow fuel filter like a Fram G3802A. Prior to the pump to protect it. Placed at a location below or at the level of the fuel tank. Mine seems to work mounted on the frame next to the Transfer Case . The fuel pretty much has to be able siphon to the pump. The fuel tank vent system must be working properly also. Watch the gas gauge, running out of gas can overheat and burn up the pump. Good Luck!

Sounds good. I just ordered one. Thank you.

I had a Mr. Gasket clearview filter show up today but it ended up not being suitable for fuel injected systems.

For your compression testing, you might want to look up the correct way to do it. I wasn't sure how to do it until recently. The fuel filter I suggested is the one that Howell recommends and it seems to work for my application. Since it is mounted between the pump and the fuel tank there is no pressure behind it. I do like those clear fuel filters though, as they can show water and other debris in the fuel system.

I want to say that the go to OEM pump and filter came from a 90s Ford van which was frame mounted

Got the Wiring harness and Throttle body pulled from a 1989 so Blazer and and found a couple ECUs, one from a 1991 Van and one from a 1990 gmc 1500 truck. Hopefully one works for me.

My E8094 Fuel pump showed up but didn't come with the kit it has in the picture here:
https://www.amazon.ca/Airtex-E8094-Electric-Fuel-Pump/dp/B000C1KIHW

I went to 3 parts stores and a line/fitting supply company and nobody could help me find an inlet adapter. I can't find a listing for the Airtex kit anywhere or an adapter on their site. I'll phone Airtex tomorrow unless someone knows what part I'm looking for. Looking for a 5/16th inlet.

Is that the E2000 pump like the f250 trucks used? It's cheap but the pressure is so much higher than I could ever need. Have you used it without problems?

I bought the same pump, and went though hell trying to find an inlet adapter that fits. I must have visited half a dozen hardware and auto part stores. Some will look like it works, but when you hook it up, you'll have fuel spraying all over the place.

My suggestion is to return the pump, then call Airtex tech support. Explain to them what you're trying to do, and they should be able to help you out. The guy I talked to sent me a fitting adapter for my pump free of charge, because I couldn't return it. He also said that I bought the wrong pump. There is another model specific for a TBI project.

Good Luck!

That pump sure looks like the one I have, although you could run the E2000 as the pressure regulator is in the throttle body and does have a little bit of adjustment if need be.

I'm not quite sure, I'm a fan of OEM parts so that I can go to any parts store for what I need, so I heard about that one and made a mental note of it

Yes, came in the 80s-90s f250

I phoned Airtex and spoke with the Fuel Pump Tech Support. The guy said that the pump should only be sold as a full kit and should include the adapter. With that I was able to contact the parts distributor I bought the pump from and they are sending the missing parts to me. Fingers crossed.

I got the new sending unit in the Jeep today and the tank back in place with new hoses. Can anyone tell me what this little guy is call? the pickup on the end of the fuel intake line? I didn't get one with my new sending unit.

I'm waiting for the throttle body rebuild kit to show up. It has a new gasket, that I will be able to use for a template if nobody can help, but I'm trying to get the TB adapter plate made by tomorrow while i have access to the shops. I didn't snap any pictures of the GM intake mounting surface, can anyone draw a little line for me showing where the throttle-body gets sealed? The gaskets I see online have one gasket with two separate holes, and another gasket that the holes are opened between. What gets sealed off on the plate?

There used to be a sock filter on there which has rotted off of yours, it was supposed to stop any crud from leaving the tank

Judging by the dirt marks your throttle body yours had the gasket on the left take a look at binder planet forum , they make tb adapter plates that will give you a pretty good idea how to make yours

Use the gasket on the right to drill your holes in your adapter then install the tb with the one on the left

I appreciate all the help I'm getting, thanks so much guys.

Water jet cutter broke down today so I had to use the CNC mill instead. I machined an adapter plate for the throttle body today. Just need to smooth the tapered holes out and drill and tap the bottom plate for the throttle body to bolt down to.

Ended up doing it as three pieces so I can still get at the mounting studs that bolt the adapter to the intake and so the taper between the top and bottom holes isn't so drastic like most adapters are.

I picked up a GQ-4x EPROM programmer and a UV light eraser locally. Having trouble finding a ALDL to usb or ALDL bluetooth cable that isn't 10-15 days away. Anyone know of a place that might sell them in Canada? Or does anyone in The Vancouver BC area have one?

I have started stripping the wiring harness apart. I got the 1227747 ecm from a 90 chevy 1500, but all the wiring and sensors form an 89 4.3L s10 Blazer. I should be able adjust injectors to the correct specs by doing the adjustable pressure mod on the regulator. Looks like the sensors are the same between the two engines.

I can't find a wiring diagram that matches the 4.3L wiring harness but that shouldn't matter right?. If I go by the 1990 1227747 truck ecm's wiring diagram, and just switch pins in the plugs to match the 90's diagram's routing, I should be fine right?

Again, thanks for all the help

drool, just wow thats so good looking, the Chinese knockoff mill we have at work is nowhere near as nice as what your CNC is putting out

I'm so spoiled with all the equipment and expertise available to me right now it's ridiculous. Next year I have over 200 hours slotted to metalworking and automotive in my program. I'll be doing a whole build on this Jeep then, can't wait.
