CJ5 bikini top confusion?? and picture request

hello all jeepers,
New guy on here with a question.

i recently bought a new bestop Bikini top for my 1981 CJ5 and I cant seem to figure it out, i think its sewed wrong but bestop CS says otherwise...

the front part has 2 buttons one on each end and the plastic peice that is supposed to slide into the gunnel seems to be too short to slide into it like my regular softop does.

how do youralls bikini tops fit on the front?

It is just like the one I had on my '83 CJ5 and it fit fine. Are you saying that its not wide enough to snap it on both sides?

The plastic piece slides into the track and the buttons prevent the top from sliding out. You should have got male buttons with it, if not a fabric store will have them.

Which part are you trying to hook into the channel? Your supposed to fold over the front edge with the plastic part in it, then tuck the folded over part into the channel. Does that make any sense?
