The gas pedal in my CJ5 (AMC 304 ) is kinda stiff and when off-roading, causes me to be a bit jerky on it. I was wondering what all I can do to loosen it up a bit. Thanks in advance for the help!

It may be that your throttle cable is gumed up. I would take it off and spray something like WD40 down it and work it back and forth untill it frees up.

Ah good call. I hadn't thought of that. I was googling around for a new "lighter" spring. I'll try that today before I do anything else.

could be the gummed up cable which they make replacements for, Also could be a gummed up throttle shaft on the carb, or your PO could have added an extra spring on the throttle, you should have no more than 2, you can also goto the parts store and get new springs:chug:

I replaced the cable as well as worked the spring sum and also let it soak in WD-40 for a little while. All of that seemed to do the trick. Thanks or all the great advice!

Glad to hear you got it fixed :)
