I have just started a project on a 79 CJ7 . I am in the process now of gathering components for a rebuild. Just have a couple of easy suspension questions for those here with experience.

1. I have a set of 32" tires for the Jeep. I really don't want to lift the Jeep at all if I don't have to. So, what's the best way to get these properly cleared to run on the Jeep. I've seen body lifts, suspension/spring lifts, wheel spacers, etc. ???

2. Driver's side low. I've measured the driver side / passenger side from bottom of tub to garage floor. I get 1.25" lower on driver side than passenger side. Both in the front and in the rear. What would be the major reason for this? I don't mind replacing the leaf springs, but again I'm not really interested in lifting the Jeep.

Thanks,

Sounds like your springs are worn out. I don't think you can fit 32's without a lift, unless you use tube fenders. No body lift....Bad idea. If it was me I would just buy a 3 or 4" suspension lift. They are cheap and it is the best way to go.

I understand. So, here are my next questions.

1. What additional components would I need for a suspension lift. Other than the complete kit (springs, shackles, etc). I've seen that extended brake lines are needed?

2. What about wheel spacers?

A 2 1/2" lift will clear 32". It's also small enough that you don't need new brake lines or droped pitman arm.
The kit with new springs and bushings and shocks should do it.

I am up with the 2.5 inch lift, it would be easy, just buy a complete lift kit.
when you are finished go to a good Jeep shop and have them put bump stop spacers in to adjust your bumpstops and you will have a nice ride with no problems.
I like the old school look of street CJs myself, but modern tires do mean a small lift.
