This is my first Thread on this Forum. I joined today because I am stumped about a clutch noise and I'm desperate for a solution.
This is a stock '49 CJ3a . complete restoration with a restored Warn Overdrive . First road test sounded like a bad clutch release bearing. Replaced the bearing...same noise. pulled the disc. and pressure plate and found a missing spring clip on the heal of one of the 3 release arms. Installed a new pressure plate....same noise. it's only noisy when the clutch pedal is depressed and it is not the release bearing, fork geometry, pilot bearing, or disc. hitting the flywheel nuts. End play on the crankshaft is about .008 inch.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
