Clutch problems!!!

Clutch problems!!!
So mine is doing the same, has popped for the third time since I've had it..I do try and keep a spare kit...the bell crank looks newish(still has sticker on it) is h
There an upgrade for the whole set up or just the links? And the hiem links still use the bell rank and plastic pivots? Also do you think the tcase drop could be an issue? Thanks

i have a T-150 .... the bell crank should be level i have a 77 and mine is mounted to the inner fender/body, the space between my frame and the crank tube is 1in or so. if the Transmission mission has dropped i would imagine the bell crank is being pulled down by the pivot ball bracket is mounted the bell housing making for some twistage.....

The oem locations for the bellcrank pivots are on the firewall and the clutch bellhousing. I have seen those bellcranks pop out on the trail due to worn motor mounts and idler bushings, along with broken pivots. It is a poor design anyway and require the motor mounts to be in good condition for the six cylinder engine. When the mounts go bad they tend to push the motor down and to the rear where the valve cover gets quite close to the firewall. M.O.R.E. in Colorado developed some "Bomb Proof" motor mounts that should never need replacing, they are quite proud of them also.

You are right the bell crank mounts on the body in the newer CJ's. Just for reference, on my '75 the bell crank mounts on the frame on one end and the bell housing at the other.

Do you have the C clips that help keep the bushings from coming out?

I have a rebuild kit for now, that has new clips...maybe I'll look at rod links but I think it still uses pivot bushings?

Haven't been on here for a while sorry bout that... I just replaced all the old linkage yesterday with new parts. Is working at the moment but it worked fine when I would just fix the broken piece and then break again so really hope this fixes it for good if not I plan to take it to one my buddies who is a mechanic... And yeah i don't know about it being a collectors item but it defentaly is special jeep. It was given away by camel cigarettes company. And the 360 is a beast plenty of power and hardly any problems at all. The reason why it looks like I don't have much tire clearance is I was parked up on a little hill it just has 33's on it with the leaf spring bent so it has plenty of clearance. Don't have any new pictures wish I did!
