Contour Dual Fan

Contour Dual Fan
The looms were intact, save for where the copper thieves adsconded with the pigtail of the harness. For the rest I just got some same sized loom and ran it to the Ford FDB I installed on the inner fender

"Ford FDB" to control it...??

I pulled back all the crappy bad wiring and ran 12 volts to each fan to check if they worked... Aside from that, I'm at square 1...

So, what's the verdict with this fan swap? I recently bought a dual fan for ford escort 2000 and it is 27" wide and just over 15" tall and appears to be a good combo swap but I'm having difficulty figuring out a frame to keep the plastic shroud from banging into the rad.

Were you able to mod or buy a metal shroud to work with your fan as I would prefer not to use plastic zippy things. ;)

I used a volvo controller from the boneyard, free with the $15 contour fan I purchased.

Wow you're fast posi!

Unfortunately fans are not so cheap in the boneyard. They have environmental fees, taxes, clean up and it's expensive for two fan with shroud... They're just cheaper to get offline.

However I didn't get the controller separate. I was looking at the Volvo two speed controller.. But is there another one? Because they are quite expensive online:eek:

How did you attach it to the radiator? Would I need to make a separate frame so the shroud won't bounce into the fins or if I used bolts what it does it keep it from bouncing?

Thanks again for your quick response:chug:

The Ford Power Distribution Box I pulled from a '93 Ford F AMC 150 contained the relays and fuses I used to complete the wiring on my setup.

I dang near went blind soldering these wires to the harness I made for the fans and the dash switch. Sure got good practice soldering wiring on this project.

With regrad on mounting the fan, zip ties will eventually fail, which is why the mounting tabs on the Contour/Mystique fans are so great, a si9mple drill through the shroud makes them fit the AMC V8 radiator mounting bolts.

Note the stainless steel hardware, up the the great PacNW we have corrosion problems too.

What with all of the soldering practice it beacame a simple matter of 'connecting the dots' when I wired up the switch using this wiring diagram. I already had that $35 controller from NAPA as part of the original setup.
