I have a 73 CJ5 with a AMC 304 and i just put a new Water temp gauge in it. I have a electric fan ,so i just turn it on when i start the jeep. My question is how hot should the gauge normally read when it is a operating temp. I have been driving it for a while now before i actually replaced the temp gauge with no probs. But i just wanted a working gauge.

thermostat temp give or take a little.:D

Ok i dont know what the temp rating on the thermostat is,what do they run about :pissed:

UH OH:eek: Well the hoses are kinda hard:D when i got home but no bubbling or popping noises so i am thinking my therm. is stuck partially open so i guess i will take it out for the summer. Hope it works if not i will be :barf:

Well i took the thermostat out and run it around the block and the temp goes up again:dung: so i will try to flush the system. Could air in the system cause it to do this problem.:wasted::beer: any tips to get the air out

Well here is my finl post.:chug:I flushed the entire system:punk:Filled it back up with the proper mixture of coolant:bounce:And took it for a spin around the block:driving:and the temp went to 250 again:censored: sooooooooooooooooo i went into the house and got a thermometer and put it into the water while it was running at 250 on the new gauge and it read 180:dbanana:So i say my new gauge i got from a popular place was bad or something ....oh well. I am :bounce:
