If you don't mind me asking, what did the grand total come out to?
It was a lot. I have not been keeping track too closely but I could definitely buy a new Jeep with what I have in this CJ. My initial budget was $15K but I blew right thru that. I think I'm around $20K for this project so I'm about $35K into whole thing. One thing that drives cost here in CA is the local shop rate. I'm not doing much of the work myself so the shop rate is $115 an hour. The crate engine is between 8 and 9K depending on tax or if they are on sale at the time, I put in a new AX15 Transmission , adapters are expensive, around $1500, building out he new cooling system and Charge Air Cooler wasn't too bad, new exhaust etc.
I'm sure some people will read this and want to reply how stupid it is, a different way is cheaper / better / etc.. I could have done it myself etc.. give it a rest. I know a lot of jeep enthusiast are hyper focused on how cheap something can be done, that is okay for them but it's not me. I am building this for me
