dana 18 xfer case swap/from quadratrac

ok.. I have read that you can swap the QuadraTrac case for the 18 and it will keep me from having to change my rear axle.. my questions are, is this a direct swap? or will I need an adapter?.. also what about the output shaft of the GM Turbo 400 what will I need to change there?. and what year dana/Spicer 18 will be more apt to fit my GM Turbo 400 ?

The output shaft in the GM Turbo 400 is too long requiring a rework of the tail housing. It’s not cheap, almost $700 by Novaks list price. (Street price should be a little better)

But on the other hand I think the offset QuadraTrac rear ends are Dana 44s.

Dana 44s were an option, the 20s standard. You have to tear deep into the Transmission to install the kit, might as well factor in the cost of a rebuild, in addition to the price of a rebuilt 18. I think it's still cheaper than swapping in any other tc plus a centered rear axle.
