95 wrangler with 88 4.2 carbed with puguetoe(?) 5spd both fresh rebuilds, spring over, 3inch body, spring arched 2 inches and stiffened, 10 inches of total lift on 36inch tsls 8k mile marker winch, ect.
1969 dodge charger rt se 440, 727 torqueflite 3.55 suregrip with 8 3/4 axle, everyone is making her a headache for me but i love her 1000xs more then my jeep
2005 dodge 3500 cummins 6speed dually work truck, not mine
my 95 wrangler with stock axles and 88 drivetrain (AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l 5spd) lifted 9 inches, 33in mts, welded front axle, side steps, brush guard, blah blah blah
Now mostly in reverse under load my rear end whines, it started when parking in ditches and backing out in 2wd, and now its anytime in reverse if im moving its the axle if im still the transmition whines (5spd 1988 puegutoe) but im not to concerend about the Transmission it should be a beaing, 5th does it as well,
if i pull down hill and back up it you can hear the axle sounds like its winding up in reverse, but no problems in foward gears (taking off at lights, down shifting, or high speed, and no problems spining the tires in the dirt)
any ideas? I want to put a rear locker in it but i dont know if the dana 35 will hold the 33in fierce attitude tires together, maby go with a locked Dana 44 or bigger?
I also have an extreme axle angle in the rear because of the SOA, Transmission and axle are on different planes!
thanks, also selling the jeep askin $10, but wanting a cummins, port saint lucie, FL

I really should move this to other vehicle. However it is ajeep and the issue is something I think we can all gather useful knowledge from when the answer is found soI am leaving it here.
having said that. Wow 9 inches of lift. I think maybe the pinion angle is a bit extreme and oiling may ne an issue in reverse. Also if it is a c clip d35, no it will not last long with a locker. A Dana 44 needs to be in your future.

i should have known this before but the whine it primarily becuase we have straight cut reverse gears, which anyone with a tractor knows how they sound!

its noticeable under load or going quick in reverse
and yes the pinion angle is afeat in itself, the stock perches almost touch the new ones we welded on if the tells you anything
and shes a cj at heart, its just missing the squinty grill
my side steps, level with the frame, are just about 33inches off the ground and the bumpers are slightly higher, the dumb part is i have 9inches of lift and stupid trac bars that hang lower then my axles, kind of ruing the point i made raising it, o well

PS i was thinking abut cutting and lengthning my stock front trac bar with a piece of pipe, i weld atleast 20 hours a week, might as well be something for me!

PPPPPSSSSS
where in the name of chysler products can i get the material to recover my jeep bucket seat, its tilt high back tan color i need both pass and drive butt pads and 1 set of foam, i dont want covers, i want to fix my seats, thanks!!!
