Decent CJ7 Gas Mileage?

Decent CJ7 Gas Mileage?
A Wrangler is a Chrysler product or a pair of Jeans. In 1986 when Chrysler killed and I mean killed the CJ line of Jeeps they made a very big deal about the long line of CJ Jeeps going all the way back to the military Jeeps of WWII was gone, no longer in production. About 6 months later, when Chrysler came out with their look alike version of what they thought a Jeep should be they, Chrysler, were very arrogant about the fact that the then Jeep pick-up, a totally Chrysler product, was related to the Pants, sorry Jeans, oops sorry Jeep like replacement they were now selling.

Tjmons is correct, the name Jeep is the only thing Jeep about the cowboy, oops Wrangler we see today. The Wrangler is not a Jeep...............

:agree:

The Wrangler was designed by AMC to replace the CJ before they sold the brand to Chrysler. AMC was under the gun to make a more stable vehicle and the Wrangler was there answer. The tooling was already built when Chrysler bought the brand and plants.

I had a 89 yj. There was an AMC logo sticker under the half door mirror mounts.

Don't care, a Wrangler is not a CJ in any way, the line was broken, discontinued, stopped and we are stuck with new look alikes today. No matter what the logic is, I will never consider a pair of pants to be a true Jeep.

Now now, when it comes to trousers I NEVER owned a pair of wranglers even though I'm from the south. I DID however wear many a pair of LEVIS. :D:D:D. I always think the wranglers have a birth defect when I see the square headlights and now I'm done bashing. Atleast it states jeep on the emblems and not sidekick. Im not driving anything that is named after a ninja!

Jeez, never thought my mpg thread would turn into a cj vs. wrangler argument... ;)

Sorry, I'm not really arguing I'm playing the game of CJ vs Wrangler. This thread is of interest to me for the subject matter. I haven't hit the road in my CJ5 with the 360 as of yet and I'm curious about the possible MPG I can expect.

I agree. Anything off topic will be deleted from this point forward. This thread wasnt about AMC vs.Chrysler.

For what it's worth I get about 10 mpg on the back roads, I never drive mine on the freeway.
Sorry for the rant before, but I get tired of the "if it's not a cj it's not a jeep" thing.

no worries all... I wasn't really upset, just poking a bit of fun... :D

as I said in my first post, I'm not expecting stupendous mpg... I'm just hoping not to get 10mpg either as this will hopefully my main ride around town... I do plan to have some sort of tow vehicle for a tent trailer/hybrid as well (probably something like a late model 4Runner)...

thanks,
Chris
