I've been on a few week hiatus and you've officially motivated me to get back at it. Your pedal assembly looks fantastic - I pulled mine apart and had the same surface rust and bedliner (bedliner is everywhere!) and opted for the 'quick' route (20 min sand, POR15 over) rather than the 'right' way (yours!).

Keep it up, can't wait to see the final results :chug:

If not for your direction on using the aircraft stripper I never would have gotten most of the bedliner of the tub. Next up is the passenger seat assembly, which I'll have to settle for the rule of "it's better than it was" it's a little too big to maneuver n the cabinet. Get going Truk820, jeep in weather will be here soon.

Long skinny pedal. Next up, E-brake.

Well a little sidetracked. Picked up a couple of grills to begin design of my sons bed and some garage art. Now to design the bed, clean up the grills and figure out how to power the lights. Think I'll need to get the light output down to fit a reasonably sized transformer, maybe adapting to LED. Thoughts? For $25 ea I thought it was a good deal.

Nice score! You could use a laptop power supply cord for the headlights. They are pretty cheap. If you have an IT department at your job they may have some extras laying around. Just make sure it is 12 volts.

Good idea on the laptop power supply.

Working on the grill for the bed. This was the red one. Better metal than the brown, but the paint was much worse. Any ideas on how to cut the sealed beam lights so I can convert to LED? The Dremel diamond bit seems like it will take forever.

Back on topic, I received the bulltear oil fill tube and installed today. Oil fill tube is a much easier install than the dipstick! Put it in the freezer for a couple minutes, tap in with a rubber mallet. Adding parts to the engine now this is exciting!

I appreciate the comment and reading the whole thing. I actually reread the whole thing too, just as a good reminder of the progress.

Being 16 can be a challenge with funds and tools. My advice, use your want to rebuild as a motivation to take care of all the things needed to get the tools, funds and knowledge to do it. Research and have a plan (plans are written). Build a spreadsheet, with part numbers, a PowerPoint presentation, on how you would go about it. That's a good way to use what you love to fulfill some school assignment and build some skills too. My advice is free and so is building a plan. Take it for what it's worth, but good luck.

Well I'm back on the CJ, finished up the Jeep bed and I probably owe a picture or two. It turned out pretty cool.

Semi finished up the oil dipstick tube install tonight. What a PITA, I used rugged ridge? Version and had to file it down a ton and finally had to just bang it in. The collar is destroyed and I don't think it's coming out in one piece, so I hope it's alright. Take a look. Still a little gap from the block to the collar area.

Body is off! Heading to paint tomorrow. 928b5f46cca1986c72f80f7711d20325_zps40cac9f2.jpg. Let's see how long this will take!

Next step is for me to clean up the top side of the frame and build out the engine.

Great day of work today(I'm on vacation this week) I finished up painting the frame now that the body is off. Again, working on things people will never see. The rear cross member is a bit bent and the rear body mount is not exactly level like it should be. I don't think it's a big deal so long as the rear bumper covers it. I'd rather not put a new cross member on, but I will if I need to.

Also, the body went of to the shop for repair and paint. Huge victory. I've been working to get it somewhere for, 6-9 months. I used the cherry picker , chain and a few bolts though the seat mounts (I think) in the floor to lift it up. Along with an extra couple sets of hands it worked great. The additional benefit is you can use the picker as a cart to move it around, I used it to move it into the drive and load on the trailer.

And, swapped out the original distributor gear onto the DUI.

Finally looking like I'm making some major progress!

Nice work Deerejeep. You're only a little ahead of me so I appreciate the encouragement of things to come. I noticed you left the windshield and tailgate on. I've been wondering about whether to paint them separately. Any wisdom on that? Once again, nice work.
