Just for information:

We took a run yesterday and while we got to our entrance we ran into the DEP and he was checking out a parked truck/trailer, we went to a different entrance and after 2 1/2 hrs of adding to our new GPS unit we started out and after I took a run up the trail I saw the DEp was still there and we exited the way we came in. I have been told that the DEP does this whent he snow melts and the weather turns.

Just be careful out there.:chug:

Is DEP short for deputy? What would they be looking for?

Dept. of enviromental protection. We basically have no possible place to wheel here in Ct. If you join a club you will have Limited access to some trails only when there is an organized run. There is plenty of state owned open land and power lines with roads and trails, but the DEP will remove $100 from you if they see you on "their" land. Ct. is one of the most unfriendly states to outdoorsmen. hunting, fishing, boating or wheeling.

What a crock of :dung: ! Has it always been this way? That sure does make it tough to wheel. If the state owns it, why isn't it public?

Pretty much the same way here in VT. Our club runs are only on Class IV roads and private land owned by people who have given their permission for us to be on their land. Class IV roads are public roads but are unmaintained and not plowed during the winter. They can get pretty nasty with washouts and such.

Public land is not open to everything. There is a lot of public land that snowmobiles are allowed on during the winter but closed for every other motorized form of travel.
