This may not come out right but here it goes...

I recently installed an HEI distributor on my 77 CJ7 and this is the position the distributor ended up in once i got it to start and run smoothly at idle, not timed yet. The vacuum advance is pretty close to the block at this point and I'm afraid I may run out of adjustment once I get around to timing it. So my question is this (please do not judge). Is a distributor setup so #1 terminal is always to the right of the vacuum advance or can I re-position the distributor and choose another terminal to become #1.

When faced with a similar situation on my 360 I jumped the dist. a tooth on the gear and never looked back. Sure it would work.

HH has it 'rite'. :notworthy:
