The computer that I have at work does not allow me to see the pics sent. From your description though I once purchased a reman motorcraft dist. from an outfit called "Parts Plus" and it came with a bad pick up coil. I did purchase another reman dist. from Crown and it has worked quite well. Just to say you might have a bad dist. I will look at your pics from my home computer when I get home to see if I can add anything else that might help.

I moved them to IMGUR. See if that's better.

A little oily in there isn't it.

Also, what's going on with your vacuum advance? Is this actually just a sending unit to a computer somewhere?

Yes, I plan to clean that up. It's from a squirt of liquid wrench before pulling the reluctor wheel out.

I'm not sure what you mean about the vacuum advance. It looks like the previous one that was in there.

The part I'm concerned about is that the 2 halves of the centrifugal advance seem to be put together wrong and don't line up correctly. I'm wondering if I can pull that apart and put back together correctly. I know I'll have to make sure the rotor is pointed correctly so this might entail pulling the distributor out to realign it. Does that advance head just pull off? There was a screw in the top of the shaft that I took out. I was assuming that held it on there but didn't want to start pulling it apart.

I figured it out how to get it off. Put the advance head together the way it is supposed to be. Put it all back together and had to reposition the distributor to correct the different rotor position.

After putting it all back together I could immediately tell the difference. Now I have some advance. It's much more peppy and I have more power in the top rpms.

I can't believe this was put together so poorly. I guess that's what you get from reman parts?
