driveability issue!

driveability issue!
so, replaced the fuel filter, turn my mixture screw out 1/2 turn to try...Same, i did shift in to 4th when it started and it didnt misfire...idid feel it before it came, almost felt rough in my floor...so tomorrow im gonna have them get me an ignition module...forman recommended it as a starting point....ive read they are kind of junk and he said the same, and it looks original

Did you follow my advice on how to check for fuel in the bowl? I hate to see you just throwing money, parts ant time at the problem without doing systematic diagnosis - not alone your frustration.

all ive done was the filter so far due to time, been just going the back roads. i did find my slip for the carb and it been on for only a year? gonna fool with it again tomorrow, i can deal w/ trying a $20 module.
hers my question, if it starts acting up and runs fine as soon as i slow down, wouldn't it be fine by the time i stop and take the air cleaner of and look down to look for squirtting?

Once it sputters turn it off an stop WITHOUT the engine running or in gear, you must be in neutral from when you turn off the engine until you stop (read my original post agian :) ). The oblect is to stop and check the carb at the exact time you get the sputtering without allowing the engine / mechanical pump to repressurize (if it is starved for fuel) the fuel system.

This is just a quick - step #1 test... :)

gotcha...ill try it. i have been very unsuccessful getting this to happen any where but the highway...but ill try it on the highway tomorrow.

Just be SAFE! When it happens pull as far off to the side as you can. If you can't check the carb safely it is not worth it!

We just need to eliminate fuel as your problem and this is the best way to do this. :)

So thursday after work i just went ahead and replaced a haggard *** coil connector, that ive been meaning to do. I also replaced the ignition module. i removed one that was i think original? Labled AMC. Now that morning it was 2 degrees out and she barely started..put the battery on the charger/loadtester and it failed test with about 1/3 of its life!! replaced w/an 800CCA battery...ive done 3 trips so far and it seems good? hasnt happed yet...so my fingers are crossed!:D

there was 2 wires cracked open at the blue connector at the module box? dont know if that was it..grounding out? wires touching? or if the low battery would do it, i know the newer jeeps need the proper voltage or you can have all types of problems...i did also find a line off the thermo vac. switch that went to the canister valve broken off, but dont know if i did that doing the module...just plugged it.:chug:

so just an update...so far so good!! hopefully im good now....tks all:chug:

:)Dan,
Well I'm glad to hear that...........sometimes you just have to throw parts at it until it's fixed.............
