I've got a 56 with a 56 e-brake handle. I just put a AMC20 in the rear and a Dana 300 Transfer Case so i don't have the same e-brake set up. I want to attach the 56 brake handle to the cables on the AMC20 drums. Has any one done this and any ideas?

I have never done the swap you are engaged in, however, if all of the original 56 brackets are there, I would assume all you need is a cable yoke to tie the two 20 cables together to attach to the original cable. And if this is the case, an older ford pickup uses a very simple bracket that will connect all three cables. I am not real sure if this is the answer to your question.

Okay, so you used to have a Dana 18 TCase. The parking brake was on the rear output of the TCase. Now you put on a Dana 300 and you no longer have a parking brake.
The later years that have a parking brake in the drums have different shoes. the rear shoe has a lever that the parking brake cable activates. I dont see an easy way to convert without changing the entire rear brakes - brake flange to drum.

So you also have an AMC20 rear end.
Can you connect your E-Brake cable to the AMC20 E-Brake?
What am I missing? You may need the cable for the AMC20 . There are 2 E-Brake cables (one for each wheel). These 2 cables go to an equalizer. I think you may need everything from the equalizer to the rear brakes.

I have been told that the 56 ebrake handle doesn't have enough pull to engage the drums. That's the issue i'm having.

I can't confirm nor deny that.
The brake on the TCase had to spin about 4 times for every revolution of the wheels. That would give that old E Brake more leverage than the new style. Maybe the hand lever just can't brake the AMC20 .
If it's true you may need everything in the above picture from the pedal to all 3 cables.
