A couple weeks ago I put in a new windshield washer reservoir and pump. Since then I have some kind of vampire draw that drains the battery. I got a multimeter on the new pump and it is not showing a draw when the key is off or even when the engine is sitting idling. It only shows a draw when the washer button is pushed in to operate the pump. Is there a DAR to follow to find the fault? Literally the only thing that changed was a new pump was installed, prior to that I had zero issues with battery drain. I have an Optima red top battery if that makes a difference.
My hunch, for what it's worth, is there is something in the ignition system and I am wondering if I knocked something loose in the ICM which is directly underneath the washer reservoir or ignition harness when I did the pump.. I am off Thursday so I will pull it into the garage and start trying to trace wires looking for the drain. Anybody have any deas?
