A couple weeks ago I put in a new windshield washer reservoir and pump. Since then I have some kind of vampire draw that drains the battery. I got a multimeter on the new pump and it is not showing a draw when the key is off or even when the engine is sitting idling. It only shows a draw when the washer button is pushed in to operate the pump. Is there a DAR to follow to find the fault? Literally the only thing that changed was a new pump was installed, prior to that I had zero issues with battery drain. I have an Optima red top battery if that makes a difference.

My hunch, for what it's worth, is there is something in the ignition system and I am wondering if I knocked something loose in the ICM which is directly underneath the washer reservoir or ignition harness when I did the pump.. I am off Thursday so I will pull it into the garage and start trying to trace wires looking for the drain. Anybody have any deas?

Oh yeah, I hate electrical.

Why do you think that's the source??
Just remove the POS(+) wire to the motor as see what happens.
My bet, it's the alternator causing the drain.

Alternator is fine, I even pulled it and had it bench tested.

My guess is ICM because I am concerned moisture got into the plugs when I was doing the reservoir

Just disconnect it overnight.
Std alternator tests do not show parasitic drain.

It was the ICM, had the time to go through the DAR yesterday and one of the leads on the 4-pin connector was drawing .25 volts just sitting there. Put a new ICM on and the problem dissapeared. I am still going to install a battery kill switch anyway, it's not like I have anything that needs power when I am parked anyway.
