Elk Hunting

Elk Hunting
Snapped this just a few minutes ago... They drove by and I chased them down - then jumped out for a pic! :)

Not an elk but - a jeep and a rack!

Ted on deer hunting.
Gotta Love Ted!!!

Ted Nugent was being interviewed by a French journalist, an animal rights activist The discussion came around to deer hunting.

The journalist asked, 'What do you think is the last thought in the head of a deer before you shoot him? Is it, 'Are you my friend?' or is it 'Are you the one who killed my brother?
Nugent replied, 'Deer aren't capable of that kind of thinking. All they care about is, what am I going to eat next, who am I going to screw next, and can I run fast enough to get away. They are very much like the French.'

It takes Biiiiiiiiig money to pay that kind of trophy fee.

Oh, I almost forgot that's the "World Famous King Ranch".;)

For those that don't know that's a spread down in Texas 825,000 acres.
Im not the type that likes to pay for my trophys id much rather stalk and get my own trophy then pay 3000+ dollars to get a trophy its alot more self satisfying in my eyes i mean the biggest buck ive shot was a muley with a 26 inch spread and like 20-24 inch tall and i dont think thats a very big buck but if it had forked like a true muley it would have scored 178 B and C but i got 154 and it only takes 180 to make Boone and Crocket for muley's

I hear you. I don't use a stand or feeder nor do I pay for a Deerlease, I hunt on my own place. I shoot a 8, 9, or 10 point every year. They don't look like that double drop tine beauty either. Also unless I want to drive 600 or 700 miles to the other side of the state, there are no mulies to shoot at.;)

Thats lame, because the funny thing is where we elk hunt like in my uncles elk hole, THERE is always whitetail does down there during rifle and there are two monster whitetail bucks(my uncle got one of the bad boys last year with rifle) during archery and sometimes during rifle and then when you go to the very begining of my uncles whole which is 3 miles on the other side the mulies like to hang out.(we usually start walking there and then walk 3 miles to the other side), there or they like to hang up high, either way we can drive to certain sides of the property and find all of them. Ocassionally a bear will wander in there along with a mountain lion and then if we go drive a couple miles down the road and up this huge hill there are Moose, the only thing we dont have up there is Sheep. But thats awesome you get those nice deer on your property, when i retire im going to buy a chunk of land that i can hunt, and build a restuarant on so i can keep buying more land.

Im going to buy a stand just so i can scout out during spring, im going to buy a used bowtech bow i found with everything but arrows on CL which saves me so much more money. Im sick of shooting two points so im going to get me a monster this next year during archery if im still in MT.
