Looking for some help as where to locate an emergency brake on my 1975 CJ5 - Full fiberglass body. I have everything up to the crossmember and the tee bar. Maybe a floor mounted one. i don't know if the body would hold up to a foot mounted drivers side brake.????? Any ideals

This weekend's project is installing a Lokar handbrake on my '73 CJ5 for the same reason the JF guy did. This thing didn't come with any of the e-brake hardware and I'm getting stuck with trying to keep the cable hooked to the bracket inside the rear drum. The Haynes manual isn't much help either. Does anyone have a picture of theirs or can direct me to how this goes together inside? Thanks in advance.

there should be a spring right on the cable coming thru the backing plate. Pull it back and slip it on the 'hook' on the ebrake lever in the drum...

check HERE for a pic. go to the supplements at the bottom, select group 8, then when the PDF opens, scroll down to page 15. there is an exploded parts view of the emergency brake system.

That's a great resource! It's that spring on the end of the cables inside the drum that I'm missing. I ordered two new cables but neither came with those springs and I don't see them listed anywhere else. Do you know where I can find them?

I may be able to strip them off an old set in the shop, but I won't be back up there for a few days a least...
Honestly I've never taken the springs off a set of Ebrake cables, so I don't know if its possible. lol I guess we will find out!

I was just going through bins of old parts two days ago looking for my stock pitman arm...

Found bags of old brake parts, and I am 99% sure those parts were in there. Currently the bag is in a trash box I hadnt gotten around to actually TAKING to the curb..

I'll look and let you know what I have.

I dont know if you want it, but I found the bag of springs and parts from a stock setup from a 79 CJ7 .... Probably all the same parts.

I can send you the whole bag of loose parts if you like...It has been sitting on a shelf for 10 years, so if I havent needed them by now................................
