engine block heater for 258

My CJ doesn't like to start in this cold weather. Does anyone know of an engine block heater that will work for the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l ? Where does it go?

Also, if you've never had a vehicle than ran a block heater, most of the time you can't just plug it in to an outdoor outlet, the circuit breaker isn't rated to enough amps for that. They will put a large draw on your the electrical circuit of your house, you'll probably notice it in your electric bill too.

600 W is 5 Amps
The smallest home breaker is usually 15 A

If it's your daily driver and you know what time you wanted to start we put timers on stuff up here in Minnesota

Saves on the electric bill

Synthetic oil is tremendous help too

I use a heater that goes inline in my lower radiator hose on my 93 dodge diesel. Works great after the factory block heater went out. Use a heavy cord to plug it in, I prefer a 10ga, smaller cords can't handle the amps and get hot.

Up here no block heater your not going anywhere. If concerned about the electric bill put a timer on as stated by 73cj. Really all you need is four hours

Entire project was about an hour. Heater works great. When temps are in single digits, jeep starts on first try. Before, it took at least 5-6 tries. 3-4 hrs is all that is needed.

Was straightforward to punch out driver's side rear freeze plug with a long punch I made using a cement chisel and pipe. I was able to do this standing up and had a clear sight of what I was doing. Heater is high quality. No leaks following install.

Don't hesitate to put one in...

You may want to think about putting an old blanket across the hood on super cold nights.
