engine swap

Hi guys I have a few questions... I have a 1983 351w in my ski boat that only has about 20 hrs on it. I want to put it in my jeep and I'm wondering if anything internal needs to be done. A friend of mine told me I should swap out the cam or crank bearings ( can't remember which) because a marine engines is softer than a car engines. Is this right. I need to find out if there is anything I need to do to it besides intake and headers and all that external stuff. It is standard rotation and I have a tremac 176 tranny that I read will bolt right up to the Windsor. Any knowledge or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Don't touch the internals unless you want to change cams. Marine motors have a harder life than automobile engines, and are built as such. You just need a flywheel and a bellhousing, along with a clutch

Ok thanks I though changeing internal bearings out didn't make sence.

The biggest difference between marine and auto engines is marine applications are designed for higher rpm use.My relatively stock jet boat cruises at 3600-3800 rpms

Right. My ski boat runs about the same. Maybe a little higher. But with gearing and Transmission that can change right? The ingine is an inboard with a tranny , drive shaft and all but would think that if the tranny shifted and was geared the Rpms would drop depending on the gear you were in. Or are u saying that the motor won't like 2000 rpm in 4th gear?
