I’m getting ready to do the Howell EFI conversion for my California 86 CJ7 . What do I do with the vent hose that comes from the exhaust manifold and went to the stock airbox? I don’t see this addressed anywhere. Do I cap it? With what? Looking forward to EFI and getting rid of all these vacuum lines!

Did the same thing to my ‘86 a few years ago. Sure was nice to get rid of all the extra wire and hoses. That heat hose in question is trash now.
If you run into snags, there are quite a few of us here who can help. The Howell guys have a good tech support too. Good luck.

I 'll try and explain what I did to mine. Granted I had headers. 1. .On the aluminum hose, I got a piece of exhaust pipe that fit the inside diameter. About a 4" piece. Stick 2" of it into the hose and held it in place with hose clamp.2. On the exhaust manifold, I got an aluminum strap wide enough to fit inside of the exhaust pipe. And long enough to wrap around one of the exhaust pipe, and have about 2 equal lenghts of 3-4" strap left (which ever one is east to access). 3. Wrap the strap around the chosen exhaust pipe. Screw it together so it stays in place. With the 3-4" of strap left. bend it into a "L" shape. to fit the same inside diameter of the exhaust pipe. Stick the exhaust pipe over the strap, and done. California smog control pass this set up. They said that it was ingenious! Just use a little know how. Hope you understand what I did. Good luck.

Thanks for the info! Do you have any pictures of your setup?
I don't have that vehicle anymore.I think if you google engine pre heat intake hose, you might find something. I'd be very careful about removing any smog equipment in Ca. Their very strict on that :dung:.
