Same here - when I brought mine home, the PO had run the duals straight out the rear, each one between the spring and fuel tank. Made it nearly undriveable.

-1951 Willys Wagon, 4 cylinder, "F" head, little rust, very close to stock
Hate to say this, but they look uncomfortably close to the rear wheel to me. Is it just an optical illusion in the picture?
Having the exhaust going out the side/back definitely makes life with a CJ better.

Load the tires up with mud or snow and a hand width might not be enough, you'll probably be alright.
