Well I finally got off my but and went and got the AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l at my friends in crestview. I've got it tore down to the head and block. What would yall do with it? My present 258 is in perfect condition. I'm in no hurry.

Keep block / head for spare or sell them, and keep crankshaft & rods for stroker project. That is what I did with my spare 84 engine anyways.

I have a spare also it's been sitting in the corner of my garage sometime now. I've been stealing parts off of it for my Jeep and others. I just like having a spare around because you never know.

I have a spare.. its bored .060 over,has a thin head gasket, 4.0 head, custom cam and arp studs.. runs about 10.5:1 compression. Im afraid to put it in my jeep

Shucks, I'd a thought that you would have fired it over by now...It definitely was a beast to run...but premium plus extra lead does get pricey!

I've got a spare on a stand that I'm probably going to rebuild with the 4.0 head swap.
