Just a quick question about a extra plug hanging under dash, does this go to a intermittent wiper opt. any advice would help

I have never seen intermittent wipers on a CJ

i also thought that was odd kind of a new feture for cars BUT i got the picture from another cj website fourm and that was the answer that was given. realy not sure i check my manual online and cant seem to find answer. maybe sombody could check there cj. its right behind light dimmer switch

I went out and looked at mine and I have the same plug that is not hooked to anything. Think it might be for a tac because the orange wire is for a dash light and that is the only gauge you would have on that side.

well that was another thought. wow thanx so much for clearing that up i really appreciate it.

Intermittent wipers? We're lucky CJ's come with wipers at all !!! HAHA

glad you got it figured out.

Intermittent wipers have a red connector that's the same design, and spliced directly through, the wiper switch connecter. FYI. If the module acts up, you just switch the plugs, and have standard wipers.

That plug is for optional fog lights, you will also find an single orange wire near the driverside headlight. It will be tucked up behind the headlight bezel, with a connector on the end of it.

How do you know that? I have never seen a switch on the dash for fog lights.

Im looking at a diagram and its showing the fog light switch with a red w/tr, gry w/tr and blue going into it... but it shows it as a different shape plug

Wind sheild wiper motor looks to be the same type of plug. holding it the way you are the wires go L-R red, wht, blk, Blu.

Diagram is from a 84 and up. The fog light was an option that never seemed to be used.

On 84-86 cj the wiper plug is round, so that is ruled out. The fog light was optional, mounted on the lower leftside of the dash. The switch had its own relay in the switches harness.

Here is what it looked like.

I personally have never owned,or seen a cj with this option. But it did exist at one time.Just like the OP, I have this harness in my 83 CJ8 , so years ago i researched to find out what this was.

I'm sorry but that does not look like a switch you would find in a CJ.

You need the wiper switch and the delay box, pretty much plug and play.

The plug that goes to the switch is round. the end that goes to the wiper motor is flat.

I have the same diagram, and yes just as you pointed out. The windshield wiper motor is.

pin. wire color
A---------BLUE
B---------BLACK
C---------WHITE
D---------RED

But the plug in the OP pic. does not match that.

ok well here is the thing the wire that comes down from wiper motor is the same exact style plug It fits right into this mystery female plug

Good im glad you got it working. :chug:

I stand corrected and I appoligize to everyone out there.
