I didn't sand when done. I only put it on the inside of the fender where the crack was. Before you put it down you must sand and clean very well. When you go to your local parts store take a look at what they have and read the directions. I'm sure online you can find a great deal of information on the topic also.

well got the fenders off to get ready to put the new ones on and i sanded and painted the old bumper and put it back on. i kinda like the fenderless look lol.

As someone mentioned before, make sure you add a ground between the grill and frame for the headlights! The grill might not ground very well through the one and only bolt attaching it to the frame with the rubber bushing. You'll need a good ground for the solonoid as was already mentioned, and also for the horn and washer pump. I went with fiberglass fenders and tub, so I had to ground everything! I decided to go with a new steel hood because glass tends to be a little wavey, so it wouldn't have looked very good pained very glossy black.

ya the first thing i did was run a ground to the solonoid cause i put it in the same spot. the only mod i had to do was cut out some of the wheel well so it cleared my ford shock towers.

Mine just has the stock wide track tall shock towers and I had to do a lot of trimming too.
I used 10 gauge wire with soldered connections and stainless steel sheet metal screws for everything. I even had to ground my windshield wiper motor and tail lights. I made sure nothing was left to chance. So far, after driving all winter through tons of salty slush, all my grounds are holding up fine.
