found a new cj owner

found a new cj owner
thats what i like about our cj. im building it for us. i dont need a 4" or bigger lift with 35 to 40" tires. i have a 2.5" lift cause i dont feel like climbing into it. but what i do want to do is have a nice jeep to drive down the road and have alittle fun offroad. this guys cj is all about offroad. 4" lift, 33" tsl tires, cut fenders and body ect ect. but we both think each others is cool. thats what is good about cj owners.
I feel the same way you do Dale, I have had my days of throwing the rig up against the biggest :dung: I can find and breaking this and that, nope no more. I do not run many of the rock trails I did just last year anymore, I love my CJ, don't need to abuse it

Helped a fellow jeeper today. Out front of autozone his jeep wouldn't start I asked if I could take a look. Turns out he just installed a new starter solenoid on a fiberglass fender and simply needed a ground to get it to work. He was happy and I was glad to be poking under the hood of a cj again.
CJs, Let me around one and the hood gets popped.
Brock, that jeep was just letting it's owner know it wants to be respected, The need TLC. And will show you that whenever they chose.

He shook his head and said that he was just lucky he could buy stuff for his TJ, I smiled and remembered a long row of them that all looked the same.

This is one of the reasons I am no longer sad that I sold my TJ. I didn't have the same connection to it, cause I could get everything I needed for it with a click of a mouse. I have learned a lot about my CJ in the short time I have had it, and I still need to start building it.

want rockers for your TJ
point click, oh I like these, click, credit card, wait for mail and install.
want rockers for the CJ
go to metal store, buy some angle iron and some tubing
go find someone to bed the tubing the way you want
get out the saws all, portaband, if you have money the bench bandsaw
measure rocker and cut angle iron and dry fit to mock up, cut the bent piece
of tubing and see your estimate was wrong so get a new piece and have it bent. Dry fit and mark, cut a few pieces of tube for center supports and grind to fit tubing. Weld it all up and then make another to match in reverse. Paint or have powder coated.
Install
when anyone ask where you go them PROUDLY tell them you had to fab them yourself.
Yep, owning a CJ is a point of pride
owning a TJ is cookie cutter
