I have a question about my front axle on my CJ5 .

1. Can the front seals be seen or are they back in the axle. Reason i ask is i had a neighbor who said it didn't look like i had seals on either side and he told me to check the front diff. So i did, it was low just a little bit so i added some 80w gear oil. The oil looked fine. Then i put the Jeep on some angles to see if it would run out on either side and it did not. Also the shafts on both sides can be moved back and forth just a little bit. Does this mean it is a floater. And yes the four wheel drive does work.

The seals are not visible at all, axle seals are inside tube just outboard of the differential. Sounds like you did the right thing checking your level and topping it off. your front axle is full floating unlike your rear whitch is semi floating.:D
