Well, through many bartering deals I now have two sets of full width axles. One set is Dana 44 front and rear from a 69 Ford truck. They have the close coupled birf joiunts on the front (don't like) and a complete 69 chevy truck with 1-tons.

I currently run 35's but would like to go to 37's which the built up AMC20 I have won't handle. I have already broke two of the chromoly axles on the rocks over a four year period.

Anyone here running full width axles and do you have any photo's either CJ5 or 7's?

will have pics of a CJ8 running full width her in a month or so
dana 60 front with a corp 14 rear

I run full width Dana 60's Front & Rear with a shackle reversal 38" swampers on 16.5 X 12 rims.On a CJ8 .

Thanks for the input, do you have any photo's. At first I was like ok lets go, but looking at the axles sitting next to my Dana 30 and AMC20 they look monsterous by comparison. I don't plan on running larger than 37" tire at any given time, but the like the idea of a little wider track width.

If you click on the red #34 under my Avatar It will take you to my Gallery.

Ok I am convinced, I have the axles and most likely won't get another chance like this. I really like your CJ8 , that is awesome. Do you recommend the shackel reversal, I see you did it.

I like the shackle reversal & the High Steer. She tracks straight hands off at 100 Mph. It's the best handling lifted Jeep I've ever owned. She has no sway bars.

I was hestitant at first, everytime I looked at the axles they looked like they grew. I have measured them six times I know. It looks like I'll be pushing my width out close to 5" in width on each side, not bad.

Mine stick out more because I'm running 12" wide rims & 15" wide tires.

I have talked myself right into doing it even though the wife doesn't understand. I'll take lots of photo's and if your will through some questions at you as I get going if that's alright.

Pics!!! we want some build pics.

I'm new here ,Just wanted to remark nice ride! I'm getting an 86 CJ7 minus drive train, but i have a fuel injected 5.0l w/ T-19 and 205 tranfer to install.. my question would be Dana 44 and 9" width so i can narrow them down for a legal wide track. do you have any idea what the stock width on these would be ?..thanx CJ7 ponie

Hello CJ7 Ponie and welcome to the site! :chug:

would be Dana 44 and 9" width so i can narrow them down for a legal wide track. do you have any idea what the stock width on these would be ?
Do you mean what are the stock widths on the axles you are acquiring (the Dana 44 and the 9")? If so - we would need to know what they are from.

The standard wide track axles are 56" wms, the narrow are 53". Hope this helps. I am going to 67" wms in a GM14 bolt in the rear and a D60 in the front. I plan do redo the back spacing on my wheels to basically give me 4 more inches on each side.

longhorn i have a question for you. on your highsteer crossover setup did you reem the hole on your pitman arm to fit chevy tie rod ends? im working on my steering the only difference is im runnin a Dana 44 front and had to get a set of flat top knuckles and now im kind of at the point where i need to find a way of goin from jeep to chevy. any ideas would be appreciated. thanks.

Yeah Dude, I used chevy one ton tie rod ends & a inch & quarter tie rod.
