Seems like it should be so simple, so of course it's a pain in the...

Bought a replacement gas pedal (just the plastic pad), since the old one was pretty much just a smooth piece of plastic.

How do you get the little pin out that goes through the back of the pad to hold it onto the metal arm?

Looks like it is flared out at the end so you can push it in, then it will not back out.

Took a little while to get back to this, other things came up - bearing and hub, leaking brake line, spindle - the usual CJ stuff.

Picture below of the little "pin" that the gas pad is/was attached to. It looks like it's flared out so it will push on, but not out.

The pin needs to be out in order to attach the new accelerator pedal. Pedal goes on, then pin slides through the whole thing.

I was going to cut it off and make something (small bolt or cotter pin), but there is also a small spring/clip that goes over the pin to push up against the pedal. New I'd screw that up.
