gas tank fill and vent hoses

Is there a good place to get these. Mine are 7 years old and have started leaking from splits. They should last longer than this.

I used the non-fuel injection gas and vent hose from the auto parts, I think it was 1/4". For the gas fill and vent hose, I went to Hose Man, I would think the big box 4wd outfits would have them also. I once tried radiator hose, and they dried right out.

I got mine from the big box store with a 4 in their name back in 09, and mine are already cracked and starting to seep a little. Not very pleased

I'd bet a lot of it has to do with the ethanol content in gas these days.

Assuming it's a 15 gallon tank, the less than $20 it costs for the two hoses, 7 years isn't bad with the modern gas.

Unfortunately most anywhere you buy them they will probably be Crown brand and we all know how cheap their stuff is. Check napa online, they may carry a different brand.

I've used the Crown ones on my CJ2a , CJ7 , J20, XJ, YJ, etc, and all have held up great for years.

Omix makes them, MTS sources them, and there are a few other brands out there doing them. Out of the Jeep store I run, I've been selling the Crown ones for years with good success.

I have to disagree, the ones on my 95 ram are the stock hoses (18 years old) and they are still doing well. I just had to pull the tank, and of course the hoses with it, so I know how they look. So saying "7 years isn't bad"???
Well maybe not for crown or Omix.

The hoses I pulled out of the 77' Cherk were still pretty good. 33 years and still doing their job. My CJ replacement hoses are cracking from the outside in. McMaster Carr sells hose that will work, but the minimum order is five feet. Hopefully the CJ hose is 3/4". My Cherk needs new vent hose and it has a LONG path to go. Out the tank, up in the wheel well, through the body and back to the filler. Jeep engineers must have been drunk.

I looked at the fuel hose from McMaster-Carr and it looks like some pretty serious stuff. Years ago, I purchased a similiar type fuel dispersing hose available only in a straight tube and mounted the fuel filler on the right side a bit higher up.

Went to the P&P today and found a nearly new vent hose. Didn't even have to pay for it.
