- 1981 CJ7 4.2 auto Dana 300 transfercase Dana 30 and amc 20 with 2.73 gears (all stock), 1989 YJ 2.4 5 speed ax5 Dana 30 and Dana 35 with 4.10 gears, 1986 dodge ramcharger 440 auto, Dana 60 front and rear with 4.11 gears
I have a 81 AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l auto with 2.73 gears. It has 31s on it now, and it won't go up hills on the road I live on. My other jeep is a 89 yj that I was thinking of making an off road toy (85%off 15%on) so the cj would be kinda like a daily driver when I don't take the car.
I want to lift the cj maybe a 4 inch kit and run 33s. My question is what gears would be best? From all the ratio converters I've seen don't start that high. I was thinking 4.10,4.56 with ox lockers front and rear
I don't do much highway driving with it. And I'll more that likely use it for light tails/mud.
Or should I build the hell out of the cj and use the yj for a dd?
