Build Thread Got my jeep today!!!!

Build Thread Got my jeep today!!!!
yesterday brought a couple of setbacks. I broke the battery post off trying to disconnect the battery cable. While pressing out a u joint cup I broke the ear off the rear driveshaft. I'll get a battery today at work. The driveshaft piece is ordered.

finished up the radiator and installed the battery. I drug out all my metal working equipment and am starting on the winch bumper. Got the top unbolted but was too heavy for me.

I had the idea in my head but it just didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. I think I know what I neeed to do to it though.

Congrats on the jeep! Sounds like a bad u joint Wouldn't be a bad idea to check all your U joints / replace and give it grease where it needs it. Good luck.

Got the winch wired up, put the skid plate back on. waiting on the yoke for the rear drive shaft. I took the top off by myself. I basically helped it fall off the jeep. I then got under it bent over and lifted it up and moved it out of the way.

OK, I got the starter situation figured out. I put the bikini top on tonight. I still have to put the half door hardware on. So now I'm gonna drive it till spring then do a full resto. In the mean time, I have a DUI distributor, wires, headers, holley 600, sitting here. When would yall put this stuff on? In the spring I plan on pulling the motor and doing a refurb on it. Mainly just cleaning it and paint. Along with some head work and a new cam. In the mean time I'm gonna start on the rear bumper tomorrow. After that I'm gonna do the full roll cage.

The dizzy and wires Id do right away. The header I would wait till I was ready to be "Jeepless" for a few days and the carb seems pretty big for a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l so Id wait for the cam at the very least.

OK I have today and tomorrow off so I figured I'd hit a little body work. This is the right side. Not too bad.

I've been sidetracked on my lovely wifes truck. So I incorperate what I do on her truck into my jeep. I've been working on the exhaust on her truck so I decided to mess with my jeep exhaust too. A couple shots of her truck exhaust and my jeep mufflers. It was too late to take pics after I painted them I'll try and do that tomorrow.

got the distributor installed and it purrs like a kitten. I'm gonna drive it a couple weeks then solve my exhaust leak problem. :)

Uh Ohh.......... Since when did spray foam come into body work??

I got home from work today and was sitting down thinking about the jeep. I'm no rookie when it comes to restorations but this just doesn't seem to be working. I went to drive the jeep to work this morning and had no headlights. Yesterday a wire wrapped with electrical tape caught fire under the hood while driving to go regester the jeep. Needless to say I didn't make it. The valve cover gasket popped out and oil was leaking all over the exhaust manifold. I wanted to drive it while doing this work but I just can't see that happening.
