just got my msd box put in. i know its been 3 months since i bought it but havent had time to put it in. all i got to say is wow. i used to have to crank it three to four times before it fired. with this i pumped the gas 4 times turned the key and she fired. love the rev limiter. now just have to find someone to watch the kids to take her for a ride.

i had a gm 4 pin in it and had the plugs gapped at .045 i think i might need to open them up more.

it keeps you from over reving your engine.

Don't want to sound stupid here but what does the rev limiter do?
Mike

The only stupid question is the one you don't ask. A rev limiter interupts the voltage to the coil, on/off/on/off, not allowing the engine to rev above a preset RPM level.

dalefan, glad to hear you finally got the MSD box in, between the box and the carb, isn't almost like having a different motor in there?

Hey Dale, Glad to hear you finally got it in and it's running good.:chug:

runs good idling lol. i have both kids today so i havent takin her out for a spin yet and there is no dumb or stupid ?s thats how we learn.

o and i opened the plug gap to .055" we will see if thats a good baseline.

funny thing is i started out the day with her not starting. it was acting like the battery was dead. so i got the volt meter out and it said 12.5. i was like this thing should start. i had all new battery cables but the one from the solenoid to the starter looked shaddy. then again its over 30 years old. luckly i had a cable in the shed about the same size from a past project and threw it on and she fired right up. this is what started me on getting the box in lol.

Good show on getting it in! I know mine made a difference like night and day when I installed it a few years ago.
Funny thing is, I just pulled the second CDI box out to install a HEI module, cause I can't keep the boxes alive in my CJ for some reason.

i used conduit on the main wires everyone talks about and bought vibration rubber mounts to mount it. will see if it lives. but since i work at a parts store ill just swap it out if it goes bad.

well i took her for a ride and its much better. think i just need to mess with the timing alittle.
