Hey gang, my dimmer switch on the floor disintegrated on me the other day. I think in the process it fried either a fuse or fusible link. Neither of which I can find. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Also, I'm wanting to do away with the floor switch and replace it with a dash mounted switch/relay. What is the wiring pilot on the switch itself so I can wire it correctly.

Also, what is this white thing. It's located next to the battery on the fire wall.

Thanks all!

The white thing is a ballast resistor used for a points distributor. Why is it on your 1981 Jeep? Where do the wires on the BR come from and go to?

Well, there is a AMC 304 in there. I'm not sure what kind of dizzy it has. I'll take more pics tomorrow. But thanks for the ID.

But to the headlight issue, I was able to figure out what was what. And I now have a nice toggle switch next to the headlight switch for Hi/Lo beams. Relays for the actual circuits. Just need parts. Lol.

That is awesome. When the wiring for my foot switch came undone it really messed with all of the lights until I got the wiring figured out. Having the dash mounted switch would be nice.

Remove the distributor cap good chance you'll find a set of points. If so the engine build date would be through 1970-74.

I'm new to non efi motors. I'm assuming that is a set of points?

Yup! I would think you would want to do some more research by checking the serial #s on that engine.

No build date on the engine, the only build date is on a tag attached to the right side valve cover and I'm sure that's long gone. Really doesn't matter it's a 70-74 engine.
