The light had a ground wire?

What happens when you unwire it?

can you put it back the way it was??

I put the same light under the hood of my truck. I guess I don't understand why you are hooking it up to your light switch all it needs to work is a hot wire and a ground.

The light switch has a hot its the courtesy light plug that comes off the switch harness. orange with a black plug in. its my dimmer switch i traced the wires. need a new one i was able to get low beams, with a little wiggling.

I'm glad you found the problem I've had problems with the bright light switch a few times. Putting it on the floor of a Jeep with all the dirt and water was not a good choice but back in the day thats how everything had them.

Its was that dimmer switch, but the reason i was using the "courtesy lamp lead" is if had any issues i didnt have splice in the wiring....i'm learning, slowly but surely!

When I put that light in my truck I put it on the inner fender by the Batt and just ran the hot right to the Pos on the Batt.

well I am thoroughly confused. This light is an underhood light but you lost your low beams? and its mounted on your inner fire wall?

the light bulb housing is retractable i wanted a "dome light" and a work light. so i installed on inner firewall for multi purpose use and the elements and my fenders kinda bounce a bit on rough roads

Id like a part number for that.

I don't think you can get them new you find them in the bone yard under the hood of '90s Chevy PU at lest that is where I got mine. They are great the cord is so long I can take the light all the way to the back of my truck.

Just bought one on ebay.
