I installed a GM light that was mounted on a Jimmy under the hood i used courtesy lamp feed 51orange-16 for power and the ground i used cigar lighter ground 9d black19 And now i dont have low beams only hi-beams? i even disconnected the new light and still no low beams? any thoughts? thanks.

The light had a ground wire?

What happens when you unwire it?

can you put it back the way it was??:cool:
 
I put the same light under the hood of my truck. I guess I don't understand why you are hooking it up to your light switch all it needs to work is a hot wire and a ground.
 
The light switch has a hot its the courtesy light plug that comes off the switch harness. orange with a black plug in. its my dimmer switch i traced the wires. need a new one i was able to get low beams, with a little wiggling.
 
I'm glad you found the problem I've had problems with the bright light switch a few times. Putting it on the floor of a Jeep with all the dirt and water was not a good choice but back in the day thats how everything had them.
 
Its was that dimmer switch, but the reason i was using the "courtesy lamp lead" is if had any issues i didnt have splice in the wiring....i'm learning, slowly but surely!
 
When I put that light in my truck I put it on the inner fender by the Batt and just ran the hot right to the Pos on the Batt.
 
well I am thoroughly confused. This light is an underhood light but you lost your low beams? and its mounted on your inner fire wall?
 
the light bulb housing is retractable i wanted a "dome light" and a work light. so i installed on inner firewall for multi purpose use and the elements and my fenders kinda bounce a bit on rough roads
 
Id like a part number for that.
 
I don't think you can get them new you find them in the bone yard under the hood of '90s Chevy PU at lest that is where I got mine. They are great the cord is so long I can take the light all the way to the back of my truck.
 
Just bought one on ebay.
