Heater hoses

So when we started tearing everything down, the one picture I forgot was of the heater hoses. Starting to get where we can re-install parts. Can anyone tell me which one connects to the left and right port of the heater core? Or does it matter? Part of me says coolant will flow either direction but just wanted to be sure.

Altho some say it makes a difference, I have never seen it. Either way is ok.

Shouldn't make a difference, it's just "flowin' thru". But mine is like Elwood Blues is, for reference. Water pump to top port, bottom port to intake manifold rear.

Thanks all, I somewhat felt it didn't make a difference. Appreciate the picture Elwood, my ports are left/right rather than up/down, but I think I'll call the left the top and plumb it the same way.

With the ports up and down, I've always put them as elwood blues picture shows because hot rises and cold sinks. I'm not sure if it holds true in a closed system but it has always worked for me. With them side by side as you stated I don't think it makes a difference.
