I'm currently working on a 1984 Scrambler project that I picked up. However, much of the project was in boxes, since I purchased after the previous owner combined two projects.

The Scrambler has 258cc that I will be mating to a Chevy automatic 700r Transmission , hopefully with a column shift.

I'm at the point that I now have a rolling chassis. The good news.... I have lots of extra parts, the challenge is identifying some of the loose pieces. I was hoping I could tap into the genius on this board to ID the pieces I need to send off to powder coating.... the other pieces I can send to a good CJ home.

I thought this was an alternator bracket? Does this go to an engine besides a 258cc?

Does anyone know if this steering column bracket will work with a column shift automatic Transmission or does it matter?

This is part of the set of 258cc power steering brackets, could someone chime in to which brackets I'm missing from the set?

Just a quick pic of the rolling chassis..... thank you in advance for your help.

First post - they are two of the same part, you only need one. They are from an early model that used an air pump as part of the emissions. For the later years, the part was just a triangle. It is the piece that you are missing from the post a little further down. You could cut the older piece down if you want. Cut just above the two holes (horizontally). Do hook up PS lines to gear box before you put radiator/grill on.

Alternator bracket, yes that is an alternator bracket, but it is for a AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l with ac. And you are missing a couple of spacers that go between the bracket and the block. Making it work for just an alternator with no compressor would be REALLY difficult and fruitless. Ask me how I know. :D

Steering column brackets. Yes will work with auto column. You are missing half of the firewall bracket. The other half of the one in the middle. One goes on top of the column the other on the bottom of the column where it goes through the firewall. They both bolt to the firewall and to each other. Same parts as your 85.
