Help PLEASE!!!

I just acquired a 1981 CJ7 Laredo with a AMC 304 and a 5 Speed Borg Transmission , but I can't for the life of me find out what type of tranny or how to at least check the fluid levels. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

The fill / drain plugs for the T-5 Transmission are on the passenger side. Remove the fill plug and stick your finger in there, oil level should be just right below the plug. The Transmission requires a GL-4 gear oil, not ATF like it's cousin T-5 found in Chevy and Fords. I ran Redline MTL for my 85 CJ7 when I still had it, shifted great.

Did someone swap in the AMC 304 , or swap in the T-5 ? Thats not the usual combo you would see. 304s were usually backed by the T-176 4 speed during the '80s.

The light duty T-5 was never offered behind a AMC 304 . Last year of the AMC 304 was 1980.

Yea the last owner swapped both the AMC 304 and the T-5 .
