HELP!!! what is this thing??

I was digging around under my jeep and came across something that I dont know what it is. It is connected to the gas tank and has what looks like a float inside it.

I believe it is the rollover safety check...
Stops the flow of gas if you flip it WRONGSIDE DOWN

after many attempts to do this correctly, i hope this one works..

it is the fluid check, NEXT to the rollover checkvalve..
