Trying to get my steering wheel put back together but can't get the horn pin to set right to sound the horn. From some very few images I've found while searching, it appears I'm missing a retainer for the pin?

The attached photo shows the only two components, a pin and spring, and how they were setup up down the horn switch shaft.

Thanks and you're right. A search for those parts really brings up nothing.

Right now I can't get the horn to actuate by pushing down on the curved plate over the pin. I can get it to sound by pushing down on the pin with a screwdriver and grounding it but it seems like I have to push the pin too far down to make contact. Not sure I can see how the retainer will help except just keep it from bouncing and sounding off the horn randomly.

Ah...thanks! PO had it in backwards. Go figure. No wonder I had so much trouble. Here I thought it was a loose wire at the horn itself.

While you have that apart would you mind measuring the length of that piece of metal. I bought a kit for mine at napa and it is 2" long and I'm not sure what the correct length is

Sorry - I got it back together before I saw this. I took an electrical loop connector and pulled the metal part away from the plastic sleeve. I then used the sleeve as the retainer and it works perfectly.

I am having trouble finding a horn button spring and retainer for my ‘83 CJ7 . Does anyone know where I can get one. Also, this is my first post to Jeep Forum and I will have questions. I haven’t posted my entire profile or a picture of my first ever restore. Patience’s please.
