Solution
The only part that needs to be unpainted is where the nut screws down (ground) and the lip where it makes contact with the button when you press it. It snaps onto the insulator and the spring pushes the button assembly up so it floats, not making contact.
Follow-up, the reason I ask is that mine was rusted and I sandblasted it, but it will just rust again if I don't treat it with something. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
