I just put a new turn signal switch and horn contact pin into my column. I am wondering how the horn button actually works. Does it supply ground to the contact pin? The reason I ask is because i have continuity through the T/S harness through the contact pin. Just want to make sure that it's supposed to be like that. I am assuming the button completes a circuit with the beveled metal piece and the horn contact pin. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Oh and the Jeep is in pieces so testing it out by plugging it in won't be for a while.

yes it does complete the circuit
and you should show continuity around the hazard button as well
when the ignition is in the off position

Meter or test light?

Multimeter. Sounds about right. I just don't want to have the horn stuck on when I get it back together.

when i work on columns i take out the bolts and screws with cordless drill
but put them back in by hand tools

over tightening T/S switch and the components around them CAN cause "sticking" or breakage

but reading your profile i don't have to tell you about over-tightening
you probably seen a few cases of that :)

Yeah,I love when someone breaks something and I have to be the one who fixes it. And I removed and installed the screws by hand. Plastic in a 30 year old Jeep doesn't hold up well to much torque.
