Got new carpet on my tub which was wire brushed and painted with POR15. Brand new seats. Making a pad to go on my stock console then will put it in. Only thing remaining is the shifter boot, on it's way with 2 day shipping from Quadratec. How do I remove the shifter knobs? It is embarrassing to ask, but I can't figure it out. I have and 81 CJ7 with AMC 258 i6 / 4.2l and a four speed. Twin shifters.

There should be a jam nut below the the shifter knob that you loosen up by turning clockwise down the shifter. Then the knob should unscrew counter clockwise pretty easy. If you have a twin stick on the Transfer Case I'm not sure about them. The ones Ive seen the knobs are welded on and have to be disassembled to take the boot off.

both knobs come off that way. or like mine, which just bounce off
